Hmm the price is a tad lofty. For the same price as a Gibson J45 or Hummingbird that keeps/increases its value, i think I know what I'd pick.

Sounds lively enough. I like the offering of nut-width choice. Why do more guitar manufacturers not offer this? Be brave, go to 48 or even 50mm. I play a 52mm nut and love it.

KDH did an awesome video tour of the factory with the CEO. I’m currently saving and waiting for them to do a full on electric (T-style, P90s, Bigsby please 😹).

I know KDH isn't everyone's cup of tea but he did an excellent tour of their manufacturing facility which is well worth a look. They make amazing guitars.

Not sure how much they sunk into R&D and other ops that they need to recoup, but these are quite a bit overpriced compared to how much the actual production (should) cost. Interesting concept for sure, and obviously a great execution, but not really interested at those prices.

If you’ve never tried the Vertext Steel String Clean Drive, I think you’d really like it if you like sustain without distortion.

I have been an Ovation junkie for decades. I bought an Adamas 12 string in '87 and played it out for years. It was considered the top of the mark for gigging solos. I even had the double neck I hauled to Sloppy Joes and Captain Tony's a la "Dead or Alive" fame. This might be the next level. Great review!

Beautiful looker, tone is a bit bright for me, I play a jumbo so there ya go, but EQ plugged in would help that out.

people have got to get serious about selling! Asking prices are far too high, if your ginna be a guitar flipper/ collector, you cant expect to ALWAYS get your money back.

I've had my emerald x7 for 3 years now and it replaced all my other high end acoustic guitars. Unplugged it's good sounding but not as good as my martins we're. However, on stage it blows them all away and always steals the room when I play it. Most important though it's so damn playable. I capo up as high as the 10th fret quite regularly and not else on the market compares to the x7 for versatility

What it be worth changing the pickups to another brand vintage? If so what would brands 😢be an upgrade?

Very cool guitar except that it's carbon fiber. Sadly they just don't sound good to my ear. Way too bright and clangy.

It’s not going to compete with a Martin or a gibson…for the price it better compete! It’s literally the cost of a Paul reed smith depending if you get a well priced vendor. At 5k this is wayyyyyy overpriced.

Was gassing after the 12 String after seeing KDH's factory tour. Definitely will get one for the collection. Would definitely put either the HiVibe or LR Baggs Anthem instead of the passive system.

I got JB trembucker put in and it just doesnt have boost. Do i have to raise pickup height? Will adding emg afterburner boost help? Or waste of money?

That both looks and sounds beautiful! Jesus… I wish this wasn’t a limited edition model because I have to start socking money away. That’s a great guitar for Billy Duffy-type stuff. It’s super rock ‘n’ roll, but it’s got that huge, hollow tone.

I've had an X20 for a few years now. I got the HighVibe system which for playing around the house eliminates the need to plug in to punch up the sound. I did discover that if you use the HighVibe the system the (my?) X20 does not perform reliably with coated strings and my personal preference is for phosphor bronze strings whereas on all my wood acoustics I can't stand the phosphor bronze sound. I also strung it up with baritone 16-70s for about 6 months no adjustments at all and it worked perfectly as a baritone (with a bit of buzz on the fat E string that probably could have been shimmed out at the bridge saddle, and I needed pliers to drag the fat E string through the machine peg hole as it barely (arguably didn't) fit. The one issue I encountered was that some screws on the machine heads and on the HighVibe unit mounting plate don't snug well and when changing strings there is very distinct play in the machine heads where they are fastened to the neck, after a few dozen more string changes I may have to poly fill the holes and or replace the screws. All comments on sound comparison vs same price point in traditional guitars are undeniable but the sound is no slouch and the comfort factor holding and playing it is special. I chose green without a veneer as a shout out to it's origin and a tribute to it's construction. The team at Emerald were attentive, prompt and a delight to deal with too.

I own one, super solid, never goes out of tune and doesn't need humidity. Sounds worse than my Taylor in my opinion.

But...but...but....what about the tonewoods??!?! ;P Look forward to see the inevitable blind ABX tone tests between things like this cutting edge acoustic versus traditional acoustics. I for one welcome both approaches. No reason at all to fight, except for those people who are simply belligerent bums. Love my Taylor. But I could for sure see myself loving something like this too. :)

I like the concept but, I hated the sound. I’m much too picky about acoustic sound I guess. Bummer for me. 🤣
